A 30-year old hairdresser from Kingsburg, was six months pregnant when her
vehicle collided with a truck on Golden State Boulevard. The injury caused
a premature abruption of the mother’s placenta and the baby was delivered by
C-section two days later. The baby suffered injuries related to her prematurity.
Result: $4,300.000.00 settlement
A 53-year old auto dealer from Fresno was injured when his foot was run over
by a vehicle by defendant’s driver at an auto auction. Plaintiff developed
a severe injury to his leg, reflex sympathetic dystrophy. Plaintiff’s wife
made a loss of consortium claim.
Result: $3,200,000.00 verdict
A 43-year old concrete finisher from Fresno was injured when a chute from defendant’s
cement truck struck his left leg after breaking off of the truck. Plaintiff
developed reflex sympathetic dystrophy in his left leg.
Result: $1,400,000.00 settlement
A 19-year old college student was undergoing a kidney transplant procedure
at the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco, when a bladder
wash solution was negligently administered through an I.V. line. As a result
plaintiff experienced a succession of seizures that were not properly treated.
Plaintiff suffered brain damage as a result.

A 43-year old mechanic from Fresno was injured in a motorcycle accident. The
defendant’s insurance company acted in a bad faith by not protecting its insured
by paying plaintiff the $15,000.00 available in policy limits. Plaintiff went
to trial in the accident case and obtained a verdict of $368,000.00. The defendant
assigned his rights against his carrier to the plaintiff. Plaintiff then sued
the insurance company for bad faith.

A 41-year old mechanic from Fresno herniated a disc at L4-5 and underwent a
Laminectomy, as a result of a trip and fall accident on a hotel stairwell.
Result: $973,000.00 verdict
A 19-year old student and a 16 year old student were passengers in a vehicle
and were killed when the driver, an 18 year old friend, lost control of his
vehicle and struck a tree. All attended a local high school together. All
three had been served alcohol at a Fresno tavern and were legally intoxicated.
Baradat & Edwards represented the families of the decedents in an action
against the tavern.

A 48-year old welder fell to his death through a hole in a roof of a building
under construction in Fresno County.

Plaintiff, a 48-year old fire suppression system installer, severely injured

made an uninsured motorist claim with his employer’s insurance company.

A 42-year old housewife suffered brain damage as a result of medical negligence
in the administration of anesthesia during a surgical procedure.

Plaintiff, a 28 year old artist, was illegally strip searched after being arrested
for allegedly harboring a fugitive, after being booked into a local jail. She
made bail without being placed in the general population.
Result: $150,000.00 settlement along with an agreement by defendant
to change its strip search policy
Plaintiff, a 40 year old housewife from Visalia, suffered soft tissue injuries
as a result of a motor vehicle accident. The defendants insurance company refused
to offer more than $25,000.00.

A 45 year old businessman lost his left eye due to alleged lack of care provided
by a Kaiser physician in Fresno. Plaintiff suffered no income or economic loss.
Result: $250,000.00 arbitration award (The maximum allowed in California
for non-economic damages in medical negligence cases)
Plaintiff, a 28 year old carpenter at Fresno, suffered the traumatic amputation
of both legs below the knee, when he rear-ended defendant’s low-boy trailer,
that was carrying a yellow bulldozer. The accident occurred at noon on a clear
day. The defendant had stopped to make a legal left turn from highway 99 but
his trailer blocked the fast lane.

A 35 year old landfill attendant was injured when the rear gate of defendant’s
truck fell, striking her on the hip and back, causing her to develop bursitis
in her hip.

as a result of a trip and fall in a hole located in defendant’s loading ramp.

A 40 year old farmer from Dos Palos suffered a $29,000.00 crop loss as a result
of an over spray of herbicide. The responsible insurance company offered to
pay only $9,600.00. Plaintiff sued contending the insurance company acted in
bad faith.
